Warhol’s Moonwalk Soars: $928,800 at Phillips’ Editions & Works on Paper Auction
Earlier this month, we wrote about the upcoming Editions & Works on Paper auction at Phillips New York. A sale that promised an exceptional lineup of modern and contemporary prints, including a standout group of Andy Warhol works. Read our preview here →
Now, with the first session complete, those expectations have more than been met. Warhol’s Moonwalk (1987) set achieved an extraordinary $928,800 (≈ £696k), while his Marilyn sold for over $283,800 (≈ £212k). Results that reaffirm the lasting power of Warhol’s vision and the continued strength of the Pop Art market.
Moonwalk and the Power of the Image

The vivid pink and yellow screenprints depicting Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon were the final series Warhol completed before his death. Combining his fascination with fame, technology, and media, Moonwalk transforms a moment of global triumph into an emblem of Pop Art’s reach: history filtered through the lens of celebrity and colour.
Own the Legacy: Moonwalk by Sunday B. Morning
For those inspired by Warhol’s vision, the Sunday B. Morning editions offer an authentic continuation of his legacy.

Printed from the original Warhol screens, these hand-pulled silkscreens mirror the colour, composition, and texture of the originals, the same bold pinks, the same lunar stride, but at a more accessible level for collectors.

Each edition is meticulously printed on museum-grade paper, reflecting the same quality and precision Warhol demanded in his lifetime. These works aren’t reproductions - they are part of the ongoing story of Pop Art: vibrant, democratic, and collectible.

Marilyn Still Shines - $283,800 at Phillips
Alongside Moonwalk, Warhol’s Marilyn (1967) also achieved a standout result, selling for over $283,800.
Her face, luminous, repeated, immortal, remains one of the most recognisable images in modern art.

Warhol’s Marilyn series captures more than celebrity; it captures fragility. Behind the glamour lies reflection on fame, tragedy, and how image consumes identity. These prints continue to command global attention because they transcend the subject. They speak to the mythology of modern culture.
