PURE GENIUS FROM PURE EVIL!

Tremendous excitement rippled through Electric Gallery this week as we carefully unpacked not one but two full sets of Pure Evil's newest limited edition prints.

These Marilyn Classic prints are fresh into the gallery and they look pretty special. They come in gold & grey, silver & black, blue & silver and pink & purple.

They are 85cm high x 70cm wide unframed, are three-colour screenprints on rich 330gsm paper and are priced at only £200 each.

They're so fresh out that we haven't yet got one framed for the gallery walls. But which one to choose? Read on and we'll tell you more as we run through each print.

1. Pink & Purple

The image of Marilyn is taken from a publicity photo for the 1958 film Niagara, an American 1953 film noir thriller. She plays Rose, an ex-barmaid caught in a love triangle with her jealous husband on a holiday near Niagara Falls.

2. Gold & Grey

The movie was one of 20th Century Fox's biggest box office hits of the year. Unlike other film noirs of the time that were filmed in black and white, Niagara was filmed in glorious "three-strip" Technicolor which caused a sensation in the States.

3. Blue & Silver

Plot spoiler: the movie does not end well for most of the main characters. Three die, including Monroe's character. One of them by being swept over the Falls themselves. But it was transformational for her Monroe in real life.

4. Silver & Black

Monroe was given top billing in Niagara, which elevated her to star status. Her following two films of that year, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, with Jane Russell, and How to Marry a Millionaire, with Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall, were even bigger successes.
