Charming Baker
Charming Baker is a British artist who exploded onto the scene in 2007 with his first solo exhibition at the Truman Brewery. Since then he has developed a committed fan base for his original paintings and provocative art prints.
He has collaborated with iconic designer Paul Smith and guest edited the Big Issue. Well known for purposefully damaging his artwork – cutting it, drilling into it, even shooting it – Baker deliberately questions the value of art. In his case, many of his original wall art now sell for hundreds of thousands. Though he says his success hasn’t changed him: “I don't spend much money,” he once told the BBC. “I still drive an old banger. I'm quite happy with my life. I put on old jeans and go to the studio and paint in a room by myself."
