Carne Griffiths

Originally from Liverpool, Carne Griffiths graduated from the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Maidstone in 1995. Griffiths moved to London where he learned embroidery design at the world’s oldest gold-thread embroidery company and later became the Creative Director. He made intricate designs for film, theatre, fashion and advertising industries. His designs were used for notable films such as The Last King of Scotland.

Turning his hand to painting, Griffiths now paints with confidence. He works primarily with calligraphy inks, graphite and liquids, such as tea, brandy or vodka. The precision of his art prints reflects his previous career as an embroider as they signify the artist’s close attention to detail.

Since establishing his own studio in 2010, Griffiths has exhibited his wall art in the UK and overseas with solo Exhibitions in Brighton, Hong Kong, Milan and an upcoming show in Hamburg. Griffiths' illustration work has also seen him collaborate with the British photographer Rankin for a six-page feature in Hunger magazine.
