Andy Warhol

One of the most influential art figures of the last century, Andy Warhol’s wall art drew on the packaging, advertising, and television he saw around him in the 1960s and beyond. He worked in the mediums painting, sculpture, film and art prints, this placed him at the centre of a collective of creatives that included The Velvet Underground.

He lived with his mother for 20 years, wore a series of iconic wigs and amassed a huge collection of ephemera.

Warhol made a TV ad for TDK tapes in which he spoke Japanese. He also directed an ad for an ice cream sundae made by American restaurant Schrafft’s.
